Cleaner Brent is committed to providing professional cleaning services that are delivered safely, responsibly and in full consideration of the wellbeing of our clients, employees, contractors and anyone who may be affected by our activities. This Health and Safety Policy sets out the principles and procedures that guide our work at all customer premises, including homes, offices and commercial sites.

Health and Safety Objectives

Our primary objectives are to prevent injury, protect health, and minimise risks arising from our cleaning operations. We aim to provide safe systems of work, safe equipment, and appropriate information, training and supervision so that cleaning tasks can be carried out efficiently and without harm.

Management Responsibilities

Cleaner Brent’s management is responsible for implementing and maintaining this policy. This includes regularly assessing risks, updating procedures, and ensuring that adequate resources are available to meet our health and safety commitments. Managers will review our practices in line with changes in regulations, industry guidance and operational requirements, and will communicate any updates to all staff.

Management will ensure that all equipment, chemicals and materials used in the provision of cleaning services are suitable for their intended purpose and are maintained in a safe condition. We also ensure that staff are provided with appropriate personal protective equipment and clear instructions for its use.

Employee Responsibilities

All employees and contractors of Cleaner Brent share responsibility for maintaining safe working conditions. Staff are required to follow the procedures set out in this policy, attend relevant training, use equipment correctly and wear personal protective equipment when necessary. Every team member must report accidents, near misses, hazards or unsafe conditions so that corrective action can be taken promptly.

Employees must not misuse or interfere with any equipment or safety arrangements provided for their protection or for the protection of others. They are also expected to cooperate with management in any investigation, inspection or review linked to health and safety matters.

Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices

Before commencing work at a site, Cleaner Brent assesses the potential risks associated with the environment and the cleaning tasks to be carried out. Particular attention is given to slip and trip hazards, working at height for tasks such as high dusting, manual handling of equipment and supplies, and safe storage of cleaning chemicals.

Where specific risks are identified, we establish safe working practices to control or minimise them. These may include restricting access to certain areas during cleaning, using warning signs for wet floors, and ensuring that heavy or bulky items are moved using safe lifting techniques. Site-specific instructions will be followed in addition to our general procedures where required.

Chemical Safety and COSHH

Cleaner Brent is committed to the safe selection, use, storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals. All products are used strictly in accordance with manufacturer instructions and relevant safety guidance. Where applicable, we maintain information on hazards and precautions associated with the substances we use and ensure that employees understand how to handle them safely.

Chemicals are stored securely and kept out of reach of children and unauthorised persons while work is in progress. Staff are instructed not to mix cleaning products, to label containers clearly and to use appropriate ventilation when working with substances that may produce fumes.

Personal Protective Equipment

Where cleaning tasks present a risk to health or safety that cannot be fully eliminated by other measures, Cleaner Brent provides suitable personal protective equipment. This may include items such as gloves, eye protection, masks or protective clothing. Employees are required to use the equipment provided, maintain it in good condition and report any defects immediately.

Personal protective equipment is selected to be appropriate for the specific cleaning activities undertaken, including the handling of chemicals, waste disposal and any work where there is a risk of splashes or contact with potentially harmful substances.

Training, Supervision and Competence

Accident, Incident and Near Miss Reporting

In the event of an accident, appropriate first aid and assistance will be provided. Where necessary, emergency services will be contacted and relevant parties notified in accordance with applicable requirements.

Client Premises and Cooperation
